Get to Know Your XPRO: Lee Jimenez of CycleBar GO, Row House GO and YogaSix GO

In this series “Get to Know Your XPRO,” XPRO’s for Xponential GO share more about themselves and their fitness knowledge. Working out is always more fun when you know your instructor on a deeper level, so check out what Lee Jimenez of YogaSix GO had to say below.

Where are you from and where do you currently live?

I’m from New York City. Living in Los Angeles now.

How long have you been teaching group fitness and what are some of your certifications?

8 years. I am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, ACE Group Exercise Instructor, TRX Specialist, Concept2 Specialist, Onnit Strength & Dexterity Coach, Stages Cycling certified, Schwinn Cycling certified, and Kettlebell Concepts Level 1 & 2 certified. I have also completed the 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training and 100 Hour Hot Yoga Teacher Training.

Why did you start teaching fitness?

I was 255 lbs. and a Director of Marketing for MAC Cosmetics. In 2014, my personal fitness journey started after a precancerous health diagnosis. I lost over 100 lbs. through various group fitness classes. The impact and changes in my quality of life made me want to impact others, as I had by incredible group fitness instructors. In 2015, I left my corporate position and went on a year-long journey to become who I am today.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

My mother. She passed away from breast cancer when I was 9 years old in 1995. She fought her battle for four years, and during that entire time, you never would have known. She was always full of life and made the absolute most of her time. She carried herself in a way that you never would have realized the pain she was experiencing.

What is your favorite workout to do and why?

I row 10 kilometers per week. It is my therapy, low impact on my joints and the most effective piece of endurance equipment. The multiple variables to gauge performance on a rower i.e. wattage, distance, time, and calories, keeps me from ever being in a monotonous workout.

What is your favorite piece of workout equipment?

You could probably guess based on my last answer - the Concept2 rower.

What is your favorite exercise to do at the gym?

Barbell back-loaded squats.

What is your go-to breakfast to start the day off on the right foot?

Mush overnight oats (Dark chocolate) and a plant-based protein shake.

Who is your favorite artist to work out to?

Megan Thee Stallion!

What are your top 3 tips to stay motivated with fitness?

  1. Find your tribe.
  2. Do what makes you strong inside and out.
  3. Enjoy the journey, not the destination.

If you weren't a fitness professional, what would your dream job be?

I would be an entertainment correspondent or on-air personality.
